The student uses appropriate computer-based productivity tools to create and modify solutions to problems. The student is expected to:
"Integrate the productivity tools including, but not limited to, word processor, database, spreadsheet, telecommunications, draw, paint, and utility programs into digital graphics."
Students must be familiar with the productivity tools and how they work in order to troubleshoot any problems they encounter. This is important because they may get to a point they cannot move forward until a problem has been resolved. Problem solving skills will carry with them as they enter adult life and the work world.

Digital Graphic /Animations--Information Acquistion
The student evaluates the acquired electronic information. The student is expected to:
"Demonstrate the appropriate use of digital imaging, video integration, and sound in documents:"
If students are building a powerpoint as a project report, they need to make sure there is quality images, video, and sound that is clear and audible to the audience.
This url demonstrates different designs, from characters to magazine covers.

Digital Graphics/Animation--Foundations
Students demonstrate knowledge and appropriate use of hardware components, software programs, and their connections. The student is expected to:
"Compare, contrast, and appropriately use the various input, processing, output, and primary/secondary storage devices".
Students need to be knowlegable of the software and hardware components of the computer. They need to be able to navigate through the site to accomplish task assigned. They need to use technology appropriately. The link below list an article of how a student may have misused technology as a prank in the classroom.

Desktop Publishing--Communication
The communication standard I chose from Desktop publishing is: The student formats digital information for appropriate and effective communication. The student is expected to:
"Define the purpose of the product and identify the specified audience".
In order to sell the product, there must be a purpose and the final product must be able to reach the intended audience. The design and techniques of the elements must be appealing to the intended audience.

Desktop Publishing--Working Solving Problems
The problem solving objective I chose is the student uses computer based productivity tools to create and modify problems. The student is expected to:
"use electronic productivity tools such as the word processor to edit text including move, copy, cut and past, and spell check".
Students should be able to extend the learning beyone the classroom. The will take this experience with them in the workplace.

Desktop Publishing--Information Acquisition
The Information acuisition I chose for this Desktop publishing objective is The student acquires electronic information in a variety of formats, with appropriate supervision. The student is expected to:
"acquire information in electronic formats including text, audio, video, and graphics, citing the sources"
It is important to know how to use text, audio, video and graphics and be able to cite the sources from where this came from. There are different formats that can be used to cite sources. If you go to the Lamar State College-Orange website under the library site, you will be able to find examples. [Research and Documentation Online by Diane Hacker of Bedford/St. Martins Press (MLA, APA, Chicago and CSE citation styles)]
Here are a few websites to check out for citing sources.

Desktop Publishing--Foundation Standards
The foundation standard I chose from Desktop publishing is; The student uses data input skills appropriate to the task and is expected to:
"Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a variety of input devices such as a mouse, keyboard, disk/disc, modem, scanner, voice/sound recorder, or digital camera by appropriately incorporating such components into the produce,"
I chose this one because with out the knowledge and skills of what these devices do, the student will be lost. It is important that the student beable to identify the hardware and learn to navigate using the tools to produce a quality product. Students must know how to input data in order to see the final product.
Here is a link that gives a list of input/output and storage devices. http://www.ziplink.net/~teachcte/comp-rel/misc/in-out1.htm
